One Peloton is the company tagline, but what does it mean? After over three years on the bike that goes nowhere and over 1000 rides, I have the answers!

Where to begin? With questions of course!
I thought I would like Peloton, but LOVE it?
Love is not the emotion I expected after purchasing 2 bikes for my Michigan fitness studio. But I can honestly say it’s been a life-changing purchase.
- How did I develop amazing friendships with people from all over the country?
- Why do I go bat crazy when a family member is on the bike when I want to ride live?
- How did I suddenly accumulate so many frequent flier miles?
It’s a phenomenon called Peloton.
Peloton is an indoor cycling bike that allows users to stream On/Demand rides or ride in real-time with hundreds and some times thousands of people from all over the country. That’s what I envisioned when I purchased the bikes for my fitness studio in Jan. of 2017. I wanted an indoor cycling experience for my clients, on their time. But I got so much more.
Peloton riders always say, “It’s so much more than a bike.”. And there couldn’t be a truer statement. It’s what I call the “Peloton Plus Factor” – the added benefit. After purchasing their bikes, people began gathering in a Facebook group, initially started by a rider, but eventually taken over by Peloton. It’s called the Official Peloton Member Page (OPMP). As of today, there are over 334,000 (updated Sept. 2020) members.
The Facebook forum allowed for friendships to form as connections were made on the rides. Subgroups began developing around instructor preferences. And then it just blew up! Today there are groups for just about anyone – wine drinkers, vegan riders, physicians, women in their 40s, XXL riders… you name it, there’s a group.
Where I found my Peloton Home…
I have found my Peloton home at the Jess King Collective Facebook page. Jess is one of the OG Peloton instructors. She’s tough as nails and vulnerable at the same time. She can kick your booty with a smile and somehow make you appreciate the kick. And the friends and connections I have made on the Collective page are what keep me riding day after day.
But how do you feel?
I will often get asked if I get a good workout? And whether I stay in shape? Or about the results. Crazy how I’m near the end of my post and I haven’t mentioned the main reason most people purchase a Peloton – fitness. And the answer to those questions is an emphatic – YES! My cardiovascular system and endurance are stronger than ever. I combine strength workouts 4-5 days of riding per week. I follow a relatively clean diet.. but always allow room for treats. And I’m in the best shape of my life!
